Group radio buttons with Word’s Properties function
Microsoft Word’s Properties function allows you to organize radio buttons into distinct groups, ensuring that only one option can be selected per set. Follow the steps below to properly group your radio buttons.
- Enable the Developer tab:
- Click File > Options.
- In the Word Options window, go to the Customize Ribbon tab, check the Developer box, and click OK.
- Turn on Design Mode by clicking Developer > Design Mode.
- Assign a GroupName to a radio button:
- Right-click on the first radio button in Group 1 and select Properties.
- In the Properties dialog, enter a value for GroupName and close the dialog.
- Right-click on the first radio button in Group 1 and select Properties.
- Repeat the process for other radio buttons:
- Assign the same GroupName to the remaining radio buttons in Group 1 one by one.
- Assign a different GroupName to all radio buttons in Group 2.
Result
Before grouping, all radio buttons belong to a single group, allowing only one selection across all options. After grouping, the radio buttons are divided into two separate groups, enabling one selection per group.
